No region in the Colonies has been more significantly impacted by The River’s unyielding power than Vir el Mari heights.
The mighty oaks and tender crops of this region dig their roots deep in fertile soil deposited when The River abandoned this watershed long ago. Through a complex system of irrigation canals, The River’s waters have fueled the growth of provisions, population and commerce; transforming Vir el Mari heights into one of the realm’s most reliable sources of raw materials and food.
Its central location exposes Vir el Mari heights to to the ravages of war. When the irrigation canals are destroyed food production stops and the population collapses. This has happened a number of times in the past and the population has been molded into a hardy stock. Essentially a backwater in the kingdom, it is nevertheless a key frontier province and is usually the first to be attacked in war.
Vir el Mari heights has some of the most beautiful scenery in the colonies with the river running down a green valley and highlands in the background. When at peace, it is a place to visit and stop for a few days to relax and enjoy.
