A dense and ancient city, much of Wudenkin's architecture reminisces of ages past. With the foothills of the great mountain range to the south and Lake Salaman to the north, it stands as an imposing sentry between the two.
The western district, known as the Veiled Harbor, predominantly housed skilled craftsmen and wealthy traders. As trade across Lake Salaman dried up due to worsening relations, Corvin Castle was constructed to guard the waterways. Rumour has it its acoustics are tuned to amplify the howling of wolves.
Agony Heights, located in the foothills of the mountains, its cramped houses carved into the living rock along narrow roads, was named for the harsh conditions the miners that provide the city's coal and iron endure. A sparsely decorated but well fortified mansion overlooks it.
The north-east, formerly poorest of Wudenkin's districts, was known as the Bayside Slums. A mixture of small wooden and stone dwellings, poor fishermen used to swarm its docks and the afternoons smelled of fish and cheap beer as the days catch was cleaned and sailors enjoyed the various local establishments. During a revitalization project, the slums were replaced with a palace complex and gardens. The fishing industry relocated to what remained of the Veiled Harbor.
These three districts surround the inner city: Crammed with shops, inns and taverns, Wudenkin's main centre of commerce; the Shadow Market. Though named such for the shadow of the Citadel that creeps through the streets with the sun's movement, some say it is due to the nature of the deals that can be made there.
In the absolute centre is the crumbling black heart of the city; the Sanguine Citadel. Despite the state of dilapidation of this relic of ages long past, or more likely because of it, the obsidian moloch stands menacingly, dominating the inner city.
