"The Grand Road to Nowhere," as locals like to call Lopa, was once one of the most important suppliers to the great city of Enweilios, before the blight. Towns and trading outposts dotted the northern parts of the region enticing merchants who wished to avoid the hustle and bustle and higher taxes of the city. To the south, bountiful harvests were brought in from the fertile fields and orchards season after season.
After the blight, no one was quite sure how Lopa remained so prosperous without the influence of the nearby city. Perhaps refugees from the city helped to keep the region vibrant. Perhaps traders from Grehk and Rines who could no longer take their wares north found new routes to the west through Lopa. Perhaps wandering travelers were drawn to see the stone-paved road to the north which now abruptly plunges off a cliff into the sea where the city once was. Perhaps the gods simply smiled upon the region. Whatever the reason, Lopa remains one of the most populous and economically significant rural counties on the entire continent.
