Tepmona, according to legend, was named after the wife of the first settler of the region. She was said to be a cold woman, quick to anger but when pleased would be especially warm towards people. Many who know this legend say her spirit lingered after death and that the weather and land of Tepmona are mercy to her whims.
In the fall and winter many would view Tepmona as an unattractive region with brown tundra coated in ice and snow and frequented by short, but bitter, winter storms. In the summer, however, the last of the ice melts away revealing tall green grasses and a variety of colorful flowers that grow on the sloping hills aided by the gentle rain storms that cover the region for a time after the thaw.
