Gor Ault hails as the Land of Horse Lords of Melhed. Originally founded under the rule of Old Grehk, the Horse Lords remained when the region was annexed by Melhed. Though known for their rearing and breeding of fierce stalions, the people also tirelessly work in the fields.
Lands and People
After many Invasions and many villages burned to the ground, the people became used to live in their farms in a hereditary caste system among the families. The most important are the horse breeders. Recognized even outside of Gor Ault, this caste is divided into two types: one responsible for the best battle stallions and one for the breeding of hardier horses for fieldwork. These breeders, legends tell, are the pioneers of the use of horses in agricultural work. Once a month, the people gather to celebrate with racings and games in a large field known as Stallion's Valley.
Farms, Manufacturing and The Knight's Road
Although the main economy revolves around horses, Gor Ault is also known for its agriculture, supplying the nearby cities with grains, produce, and other necessities. As the builders of the only paved road connecting the capitol of Agyr with the city of Mhed, the populace is extremely proud of their contribution to the realm of Melhed. In times of war, when the roads are filled with soldiers - many upon the backs of Gor Aultian horses - this road is affectionately and proudly called "The Knight's Road".
Religion
In days of old, religion was of little import to daily life. When the Bloodspeakers were founded, the entire populace was readily and completely converted to its truth. Every summer solstice, the people of Gor Ault ride their best horses in a procession toward the Bloodspeakers Temple to worship the "horse who would ride the world".
