Agyr, the jewel of the north. Located at the mouth of the Great North River and the entrance of the Bay of Souls it is no wonder that of all places in the north one could live, it is here that mankind built their great city. Warmed by the ocean so close at hand the people of Agyr are blessed with only hideously cold weather, rather than inhumanly freezing when the harsh grip of winter closes on the land. The city itself has a bustling economy, being the major supplier of just about everything for the surrounding countryside, and a major stopping point for shipping of both imports and exports. Living where they do the northlanders are a fierce lot, proud of their independence and ancient traditions.
The buildings huddle closely along the streets of Agyr, packed close together, with many storefronts and inns along the main avenues. The tall stone-and-wood beam fronts are frequently painted in bright solid colours. The walls of all the buildings seem to be twice as thick as they should be, and the windows several panes thick as well. If you look closer, you will note a few marks long repaired in the wood of the walls, from long ago monster attacks.
At the heart of the city is the Golden Palace, a remnant of the days when Melhed was ruled by Emperor Tsu Sun in the Age of Blood. Nearby is the Senate and Forum. The new governmental office symbolizing the new age of civilization ushered in by the Republic.
The clothing in Agyr reflects the practical nature of the people living there. Colours are varied, however, as Agyr is luckily located on a shipping route that deals with all sorts of goods, and colour is not so limited by climate as style is.
Now there is ash everywhere. Ashe stains the high walls and lofty towers. Ash clouds the fine windows and clogs the fountains. But from the ash, perhaps a new beauty will arise?
