The coldest city on the Eastern Continent.
The city proper juts out distinctively into the sea, narrowing the landward perimeter to the north, the west, and the north-eastern walls. The layout of the city itself is based around the three main streets which run connect the two main gates and the harbor to the large circular forum located in the middle of the city, which has become known as the Doubled Coin District. Surrounding the forum, which also serves the population as the major marketplace, are the buildings of government, religion, and commerce, with the less magnificent merchant houses and temples being found along the length of the main roads. This has become known as the Crossroads District. Behind them are the residential quarters and the significant craft communes who operate under a singular government administrated guild, and supply the city, mingled together.
While clearly built with a specific design in mind - the Isadril fashion - the city has taken on a mercurial quality with regards to it's current construction. Xavax is built upon countless ruins. The city as a result blends several architectural styles, and several buildings display multiple styles within the same structure. The most predominant building material in Xavax is recycled cobblestone, having been re-purposed from countless destroyed structures.
The people of Xavax are a mix of cultures from several conquered civilizations, and several would-be rulers. The population has been devastated time and time again, and yet the city and its people remain. Grinding glaciers, invaders, disease, and famine have all ravaged the Xavaxians. They have been the center of a great Imperium, and have been reduced to mere provincials, the neglected spoils of war. As such the people have become hardy, irreverent, and cold to outsiders. Their crafts are not beautiful, but they are quality, meant to endure any hardship.
