Glittering ebony beaches occupy most of Stora's boarder. The beaches are the most attractive part of the region. The black sand is made of small volcanic pebbles that have been smoothed by the ocean waves. One of the happy residents of the beaches is the Hornshelled turtle. These turtles frequent the black sands to bathe in the sun, find mates, and lay eggs. The elder Hornshells develop spiney horned shells and strong limbs. Sometimes the toughened elders are seen fighting with lava badgers over beach territory. Fortunately, the turtles are quite plentiful. They help control the badger population in the region and make a delicious turtle soup which is available at most inns in Stora.
Further inland are trees, shrubs, vines, and grasses, the native plants of Stora. Stora has one large mine that supplies some of the metal to the duchy of Kalmar.
