This is the Orders page. Whenever you want to do something which involves your troops or your paraphernalia (such as your scouts) this is where you go. There are lots of useful options on this page, and one other very useful thing -- see that black and white circle on the right? That's a help link. You'll see those on a number of pages, and you should always click on it the first time you come to an unfamiliar page, or whenever you see an unfamiliar option. You should also not hesitate to ask the other nobles in the realm when you have a question.

Rather than go into the individual options, it's good to observe two things. First, the page includes lots of greyed-out options at the bottom which you can't use. Generally, there will be a reason given as to why you can't give those orders or perform that action. You usually will not be able to perform destructive acts in your own realm, for example.

Second, you'll notice that most of the available orders are followed by ellipses, such as: Training... This means that clicking on that link will take you to another page before the actual orders are to your men, usually so that you can clarify those orders. (When training, for example, you can specify that your unit should train for four, six, or eight hours)
Dig In, however, does not have those dots -- clicking that link will immediately and irrevocably cause that action to be taken. Just like real life, there are no "Are you sure?" pages, nor is there an undo function. So be careful and deliberate when you click.

Things you can do:

  • Repair Equipment...
  • Pay your men... - give the men what they have earned.
  • Rest Troops... - tell your men to rest and relax.
  • Training... - raise your troops experience.
  • Dig In - fortify your camp (takes 6 hours)
  • Change the name... of your unit
  • Abandon your unit...

  • Send out scouts... to one or more neighbouring region to look for troops and other activities
  • Buy Paraphernalia... - need some carts, healers or scouts?
  • Abandon Paraphernalia... - leave your extra men or equipment behind.

Things you can not do:

  • Loot/Takeover - you are in your own realm.
  • Raze Fortifications - you are in friendly lands.
  • Entertainment - your men are already as happy as they can be. You would only make them drunk in addition.
  • Civil/Police Work - no such nonsense on war islands. Go fight the enemy.
  • Hang Rebels - there are not enough insurgents here to warrant a hanging.
  • Dig in - not necessary or of any advantage in a City.
  • Hunt enemies - no retreated enemy troops around.
  • Forage battlefield - Nothing left or no recent battles.
  • Leave Wounded - You do not have any wounded men.
